The Baxter Quartet

The Baxter Quartet is a musical creation with a split personality. The fun/jovial persona makes a living taking popular songs and morphing them into jazz improvs. The Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, even Britney Spears cannot escape the clutches of this side. The other side to this group is a bit edgier. More serious. This side features the original compositions written by the group as well as classic jazz standards.
Whether you want to hear the classics, or a new twist on an old pop song, the Baxter Quartet will bring what you need.

The Baxter Quartet is:
Kevin Danenberg (Sax) – Based in Newtown, Connecticut, saxophonist Kevin Danenberg studied with renowned altoists Jackie McLean and Bob Mover, and performs with the Duke Baxter Band and the BlackTails. He designs whale-inspired Stachelvarius Mouthpieces with Tower of Power alumnus Norbert Stachel. Kevin also works as a freelance data solutions architect and software developer.

Ethan Herr (Piano) – Ethan has been an active musician around the metropolitan area since 2002. He has been the leader of an all-original jazz quintet, a sideman for various outfits, and a composer. He holds a Masters in music from William Paterson University.

Todd Urban (Bass) – Bassist Todd Urban is a multi-instrumentalist living in the NYC area. When he is not performing, Todd runs Urban Sound Studio in Riverdale, NJ. His work with the studio attracts singer/songwriters, jazz groups, and classical ensembles. When he is not in NJ, Todd can be found traveling as a product educator for Softube or Apple, as he teaches the world about recording and production techniques.

Derek Landel (Drums) – Derek hails from Northern New Jersey. He attended Berklee College of Music, where he had the honor to study and perform with many tremendous musicians. He currently is the drummer for a variety of groups including The Bright Spots, The Blacktails and The Duke Baxter Band. He also plays bass/drums for Ramsey’s own Dad To The Bone.
