The painting that hangs near the staircase landing leading to the main floor was donated by Eli Hilu in 2006. The work features Civil War reenactors standing in Memorial Park after the Memorial Day Parade.

Mr. Hilu was born in Cordoba, Argentina. There, he studied art at The Institute of Fine Arts. He is inspired by the landscapes encountered throughout his many travels. He enjoys painting in oil, choosing different hues, mixing colors and finding what is interesting to create. He is fascinated by the interplay of color, light, and shadow within landscapes and portraits. Mr. Hilu is a member of the Pascack Art Association, The Teaneck Art Cultural Center, and the Ridgewood Art Institute. He was a resident of Hillsdale for over 20 years.
