On Exhibit in November – A Journey from Waste to Art

Kanchan Devarakonda has been interested in following a sustainable lifestyle for the past few years. That interest, combined with an artistic inclination, has culminated in the works of art being displayed as part of this exhibit.

Devarakonda notes, “While maintaining a decluttered abode and getting rid of trash and useless items is certainly advisable, an artistic spin to these very items can lead to some very interesting pieces of art and can also help save the environment. The intent of this exhibit is to emphasize this fact.”

The underlying theme for all the displayed art is that almost everything has been repurposed from articles that would normally be thrown away as trash. All kinds of dried flowers and leaves (saved from bouquets and the fall season) have been used. Other items such as old playing cards (from decks that would be unusable due to some missing cards), egg cartons, glass bottles, and more have also been used to create this collection.

Devarakonda’s pieces are for sale with proceeds going to the library. Email Devarakondo at kanchan.devarakonda@gmail.com to arrange purchases.
