Meet Nick Metz at a reception on Tuesday, July 16, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Nick Metz,  14, recently graduated from George G. White Middle School (Gold Medal in Art) and will be attending Pascack Valley High School in the Fall.  He studies oil painting at Ridgewood Art Institute, modern art at One River School in Englewood, and all aspects of art wherever and whenever he can.

Nick was recently named the National Grand Prize winner of the Sargent “Brighter World” Spring 2013 Art Competition, from among thousands of entries submitted by students in grades K-12 countrywide.  In February, he was honored with the Silver Key Award in the 90th Annual Scholastic National Art Competition, at a reception at the Montclair Art Museum.  In May, Nick was named the Ridgewood Art Institute’s “Young Artist of the Month”.  And, in June, his works shown at the RAI’s 54thAnnual Young People’s Exhibit earned him the prestigious “Instructors’ Scholarship”.

On exhibit will be Nick’s oil paintings of various styles, his national award-winning self-portrait, examples of delicate enamel flower paintings, and works in other media.
