Born in Philadelphia, Wes Shaw has been painting and drawing for a good part of his life. After serving in the army for two years, Wes enrolled at the Art Center College of Design in California. After graduation, Wes was ofered a position in advertising in Philadelphia by Charles Coiner, noted painter from the New Hope School of Painting. Wes went on to form his own agency, Words and Pictures Creative Service of Park Ridge, NJ, and Has retunred to his fine arts roots with exhibitions of his oil paintings in New York, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania, including the Salmagundi Art Club in New York City. Wes has received Best in Show at the Titicum Art Show, as well as an award from the American Artist Magazine Competition. Wes has taught at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, as well as the School of Visual Art in New York.
Wes’ work primarily features scenes of Bucks County, although past shows featured paintings from Maine to Mexico. Bucks County, however, remains Wes’ favorite area in which to paint; noting that Wes’ work follows the tradition of the New Hope School of Painting.
