This October, artist Eli Hilu will be displaying his work in the Meeting Room. The exhibit, My Colors, will be on display until the end of October. My Colors consists of twenty oil paintings, displaying the artist’s interest in developing color and hue. Hilu wanted to capture how color, light, and shadow “interplay” in paintings, transmitting a feeling that relates to a specific moment and place. He chose themes that would “challenge” him to “experiment with new variations of light and color”.

Eli Hilu was originally born in Cordoba, Argentina, where he also studied at the Institute of Fine Arts. He has traveled to many different parts of the world; his travels inspired his art and influenced the techniques he uses to recreate his visual experiences. Now in Hillsdale, he is a member of the Pascack Art Association, The Teaneck Art Cultural Center, and the Ridgewood Art Institute. Some of his artwork is exhibited in galleries and private collections in Argentina, Chile, Israel, Switzerland, Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Our online gallery displays four of Hilu’s paintings, more of which can be seen in person in the Meeting Room. We encourage patrons to view these paintings in person, as the attention to color is much more prominent than it is in the photograph.
