Attack on TitanTeen Book Recommendation #10: Attack on Titan Vols 1 – 6 by Hajime Isayama

page count: 193 (Vol. 1)

pub date: 06/19/2012

genre: manga/science fiction/dystopian

age group: teen

My Rating: 5 / 5 stars*

Why am I recommending this manga series?:  Because Titans freak me out.  Seriously, the whole concept is super creepy, and yet I keep going back for more!

Humanity has enclosed itself behind walls, three to be exactly.  What remains of the human race lives behind a series of three increasingly protected walls.  Why do they need to be protected?  Because Titans have overrun the world.  Titans are large humanoid beings who only seem interested in killing people. For years humanity has felt safe, but all that is about to change…

If you are looking for a good manga series, one that has a great anime that goes along with it (and actually also a live action movie…but I haven’t seen it yet so I don’t know how it stacks up), try Attack on Titan.  Hopefully the Titans freak you out less than they do me (and also hopefully you don’t mind a manga where a lot of people die…after all this is a post-apocalyptic world we are talking about).

*a note on my rating system:  I go by the rates I use on goodreads.com, which are as follows:

1 star = did not like it

2 stars = it was okay

3 stars = liked it

4 stars = really liked it

5 stars = it was amazing

Anything a 3 or above is worth reading, in my opinion.  I’ve read a lot of books that I have given 3 stars to, and I don’t regret any of them.
