Think It, Make It, Share It.
Tinkering Tuesday, January 21 – 3:30 to 4:54 pm.
Construct a car. See how fast it will travel down the test track.
We’ve created a track from cellular PVC trim boards and weatherstripping. The home brew timing system is based upon infrared LED emitters and detectors. These are powered and read by an Arduino Uno board (SparkFun Inventor’s Kit). Results are tabulated and displayed on a computer.
The track width is limited to 3 inches. The foam rubber side rails are covered with scotch tape to lessen the friction.
Materials: craft sticks, Legos, bottle caps, straws, dowels, CDs, etc.
Tools: scissors, pencils, x-acto knives
Connectors: hot glue, thumb tacks, tape
