Artist Reception: Susan Kokenes and Lauren Ennist

The artwork of Susan Kokenes and Lauren Ennist, both Hillsdale residents, will be on
display at the Hillsdale Library from April 1 through April 30. Meet the artists and
discuss their work on Monday, April 2 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Ms. Kokenes has been practicing her art for 30 years. Her work here consists of a
common theme of fences with a backdrop of different moods from dark to light.
Classical portraiture is also featured. Ms. Ennist has been painting since
childhood. Her portraits are not constrained by overbearing concepts. She
experiences her subjects through their overt action, subtle nuances, minor changes
in facial expression, and gesture. She pushes her subjects up close to the canvas
surface, enlarging their scale to dominate the space.
