About the artist: Michael Johnston discovered the importance of art at an early age, exploring a range of pottery, photography, and drawing/painting classes and receiving helpful instruction at school. The pursuit of creativity became a lifelong passion in both his personal and professional life. Michael would spend 25 years as a creative in the advertising industry, the majority of the time working within the healthcare agency networks of McCann-Erickson and Ogilvy. He is happily retired from agency life and has fully returned to his artistic beginnings. Michael is thrilled to explore this creative avenue and work with those who are passionate about bringing artistry to life. His key influences include Van Gogh, Dali, and Basquiat.

The vibrant spectrum of foliage is not shown as individual entities of color side by side. Instead, they’re blended together across the canvas, creating a potent vision of autumnal fireworks. 
My rural travels brought me to Hildene Farm in Vermont, with its beautiful shades of green against a soaring summer sky. These grounds are located near the historic Hildene estate, summer home of Robert Lincoln (only child of Abraham Lincoln to live into adulthood). 
The beauty of the Green Mountain State, one of my favorite places in the world. Each visit brings calm, peace, and quiet. Cool evenings in the middle of summer. And a beer on the back porch of the Equinox Hotel. 
Spring has arrived in full thriving force, overtaking the gray skies with a bountiful energy that won’t be contained. The annual rebirth that is always worth the wait.
